Manuscript volume in several hands containing the texts of over 80 traditional English ballads and folk songs, many of which were printed in A Collection of Old Ballads, Corrected from the best and most ancient copies extant.... (London, 1723). Contents include "Chevy-Chase," "The Wanton Wife of Bath," "The Dragon of Wantley," and three Robin Hood ballads. There are also several short contemporary poems inserted on blank pages.
